Busy days and Showers to Love

Well after Judy Slaughter's study last night, I have rethought my perspective on how "tired" I have been lately. I do admit, every morning I have woke up with a killer headache for the last few days. I think it is evil allergies coming on. BUT Judy brought up a good point that really does apply to me. I can be sloth like. Since Nick and I work full-time I just like to cook and be a potato after. I did realize I could multi-task better in the free time I have. She really gave some good scriptures so here are some:)

Proverbs 18:9 (NLT)
" A lazy person is as bad as someone who destroys things."

Proverbs 18:21 (NLT)
"The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences."

Ephesians 4:29 (NLT)
"Don't use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them."

These are just a few I chose from our study.

This last Sunday, I went to a fantabulous shower for Aust! Less than 1 month she will be Austie Eckley;)

Above the shower group in "pink and black". Right, Jan, the host, and Austie!

So of course, her boss from Tres Fabu, Jan , threw her an amazing shower. It was fun and Jan is sure an amazing host. We had dinner, which was an amazing feast of beef filet, asparagus, julienne carrots, salad, and kalamata olive bread. For desert we had an amazing desert from St. Honore Bakery,
Mille Feuilles aux Fraises. They are pastries with phyllo dough on the top and bottom filled with pastry cream and fresh strawberries. NUmmmy! It was truly a girly girl dinner complete with girly dinner setting, see below. We also played some games and such.
Sel and Helena got Austie this cute little apron and it even says, "Bride". Stuffed in the pockets are some cute little undies.

So it was amazing fun! I am so excited for Austie... and Justin:) I am sure the Bachelorette Party will be amazing too:)
There is a little pink and black note to end on. Now on to really good stuff. On May 1, there will be a Antioch Banquet. For everyone who doesn't know, Nick and some close friends started this house as a "Christian Fraternity". It has been a great place for guys going to college to live who want to live in a Chrisitan environment. By want to, I mean the guys have held each gent living in the house accountable. If there parents signed them up, they ask that they be living there out of their own will. It is really cool. Since dating Nick, I have seen such amazing things the LORD has done with the house. The house they live in is available to purchase and is in great condition. A donor, has offered about $250,000 toward the guys if they fund raise the rest. The house has some money, but will still need to raise $80,000 more. That is in small comparison considering the house is selling I think for almost $400,000. I am so happy to see what the LORD has done with the house. Therefore, I am even more excited for the banquet. The guys have totally put the house in the LORD's hand so it is very cool to see his works. I was sad I couldn't find a picture online of their house but below is a picture of the house gathering at OSU's Memorial Union.

Finally Sun

So there is finally sun here today! It was soo warm. Nick and I love the sun! The boys worked on the mantle all day so I made trips outside, went grocery shopping, and just cleaned house. We really wanted to go into Portland, but we also needed to work on the mantle. Here is an update of how it looks so far.

It is looking pretty good. They have finished boxing in the front and sanding it all down. They are actually downstairs working on the columns right now.

This feels like the first Saturday since long before the wedding since we haven't been doing something. I mean we have Chad and Ams over, but we have been running every weekend.

Tomorrow I have Austie's shower, which I am soooo excited for and will definitely post pictures. I stinkin love her so much and I am very excited for her and Justin to get married!

Last weekend, I went to Lisa Lake's bachelorette shower. That was great fun! Amy and I went to Portland Saturday Market and then I skipped over to the shower and after Amy and I went to Lush. I love that place! Back to the shower here is a pic from that:)

Nick and I have really been enjoying being able to hang out on the weekends. Even if they are usually crazy busy, I usually try and make breakfast which is really fun. Here are a few pics from church last weekend. We got to the Art Center waayy to early and decided to have fun with the camera. It was raining there was nothing else to do. Yeah we are pretty big nerds:)

I love cooking! Today I am making salmon with a garlic basil sauce, scratch pasta salad, and a berry jello salad for desert! Num, well while the boys finish up I am going to nap. I am super tired.

Life Recently

It seems as though life has been rather busy lately! It has been so fun for us to be livin' the married life:) We are finally getting to church on Wednesdays which rocks! We both have totally missed Brett and his teachings and the amazing fellowship. Oh yah, I started a married women's group at Athey. That is amazing!!! The time with women is such and blessing and the insight also.

I really hope I get time to be more crafty. Right now, we are still adjusted to work and getting dinner done in time before it is basically time to hit the hay. I would really like to start scrapping again or doing something new like sewing! We will see...

So it is really cool a lot of our friends are getting married! Amanda and Ben Newell just tied the knot last weekend! It rocks because Allison Newell, Ben's younger sis, was an Alpha Chi. The pictures below are a little glimpse of Amanda, Ben and weddingness...
Nick and I at Mr. and Mrs. Newell's wedding! It was such cute decor I should have taken better pictures.
How cute! New sisters:) Allison and Amanda Newell.
The beautiful couple. She was sooo gorgeous:) Okay so i know it is lots of pictures, but I have to show a good last night out as a single lady!
Masu Sushi fun!

Amanda all dressed up with gifts:)

It was so fun getting to hang out with another bride so soon after our wedding! I guess I should post some pics from our wedding.

So onward to what else we are doing. Chad and Amy have so graciously blessed us with a wedding gift of a custom mantle. Nick and Chad have been work hard the last two weekends tearing up the old mantle and designing a new one. Amy has been the amazing autocad assistant designing sketches for the plan. This weekend Amy and I are going to Saturday market while the boys work! Here are a couple pics of the process.

Phase One: Demo
Aren't they sooo handsome:) I know Amy agrees look at our boys!
No more blue sparkling stone!
The husbands being silly!
Do you like the dinosaur eating the person. I am excited for the person who decides to remodel this section after us. They will have a surprise:)

So here is the latest of us! I hope to blog a bit more often. It satisfies my want to scrap:) Yay for the blogs I have found of church friends!
